The single biggest cost variable is the intraocular lens. A standard monofocal IOL wholesale costs a fraction of a premium trifocal — and a trifocal requires more advanced pre-operative biometry, more chair time in surgery, and more follow-up visits to fine-tune adaptation. That is why the top tier sits around £4,800 per eye.
The second variable is the surgeon. Is lens replacement the same as cataract surgery?
Technically the surgery is identical — the natural lens is replaced with an artificial intraocular lens.
