Elderly patient undergoing Humphrey visual field assessment

Visual Field Assessment

How visual field testing checks your central and peripheral vision to detect and monitor eye disease.

A visual field assessment is an important part of your eye health examination. It measures the area you can see and how well you see within it, checking both your central and peripheral (side) vision to give us information about how your eye is functioning.

The test helps diagnose and monitor conditions affecting the retina (the light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye), the optic nerve (which carries information from the eye to the brain) and the visual pathway through the brain.
